Bonjour Carlos,
Cordialement
Chantal Micoud
I had the great luck of being alone on the 13 days Huayhuash Trek this year (2009) in July. It was an extraordinary experience - thank you all so much!
Already before the departure Carlos was very helpful and patient with all my questions. Arriving in Huaraz, I stayed in the "B&B My House" to spent 4 days acclimatising. The place is simple but clean, with a lot of hot water and Patty and her mother treated me like a family member, helping with any issue I had and just generally being extremely warm-harded!
During the trek, Nilton (the guide), Estevan (the cook) and Erick (the "arriero") were an amazing team, always friendly and smiling, always looking after me, finding the best spots for breaks and camp-sites and just generally making sure that I had a great time. I already miss Estevan's food (it's amazing what he creates on a small camping kitchen!), the big smile of Erick when he passed us in the course of the day or when we arrived at camp, the talks I had with Nilton during the hike (at least when I had enough breath to talk...) and of course the incredible scenery they all shared with me!
At night we had great talks, I heard a lot of local tales, ghost stories, we discussed politics, the history of Peru and of course I learned a lot about the lives of the 3.
The trekking route itself was not the most common one, a bit harder at times but so worth it! It was a great choice!!! And since it was not the most common route, we had quite a few days and evenings were we didn’t meet any other trekking group which I - who enjoys being away from it all – appreciated a lot!
Once again, thank you all so much – I really hope that I can come back one day to do another trek with you guys!!!
We had an amazing trip to the Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru and credit goes to Carlos and his team at Aventura Quechua.
For months before the trip, Carlos was supremely patient answering all of our email questions. His answers were always clear, detailed, and accompanied by consistent and accurate pricing. We really appreciated his input because he always provided rationale for why he would choose one route over another.
We stayed at Mi Casa in Huaraz where his mother, Francisca, and sister, Patricia, took excellent care of us and coordinated all of our acclimatization trips. Although we were worried about the altitude, the schedule we ended up with (coming from Cusco and doing 2 acclimatization day trips to Chavin and Laguna Charup) worked well for everyone in our party (we also took gingko biloba and drank coca mate on the trail).
On the hike, Esteban was a great cook - hardworking and very consciencious in ensuring that all of our logistics worked like clockwork. He always had lunch or snacks ready for us on the trail or when we got to camp. He also has great local knowledge of the mountains and offered several tweaks to improve our route. We were able to communicate with Esteban with our limited Spanish enough to get by (he spoke Spanish slowly, and we had 4 people listening, plus a dictionary).
The burro drivers were some of the hardest working guys we met in Peru. They would be up hours before us, readying camp for breakfast and departure, which allowed us to hit the trail without delay in the morning. They were such fast hikers that they would pass us on the trail each day and have camp set up when we arrived.
Overall, the trip to the Huayhuash was one of the most scenic and culturally interesting trips we have been on. Our experience with Aventura Quechua is proof that a guided trip can work well for typically independent hikers like us.
Thanks for everything!

I had the pleasure of taking a class with two Professors that chose Aventura Quechua to guide our travels in January of 2008. I found the experience to be the greatest of my lifetime. I benefited from it both academically and spiritually and cannot express enough thanks to those who contributed to my experience. Thank you so much and I will remember it for a lifetime.
Best,

Hello Angelina,
Just some words on this very enjoyable trip through a very pleasant country, as well for landscapes that for the people and the very good welcome we had everywhere...
All I can report concerning the organization is that everything was perfectly planned, with always a "professional" touch, and everything was comfortable for us.
Concerning the Huayhuash trek, no problem, very good cooking, a very kind guide, the
only "difficulty" for us has been to fight against "serroche", and the lack of oxygen. (3 days of acclimatization in Huaraz is a minimum...) The route itself can be considered as easy. The only little reproach concerns the
first day, with an unpleasant walk on a dusty road with a lot of trucks.
In Cusco, no problem, a lot of interesting visits with Mario, including the climb of Waynapicchu, following a "queue" morning.
Very pleasant night also in Taquile, which has allowed us to visit the isle out of the tourist rush. Nevertheless, no real contact with our hosts, we have had the dinner and the breakfast in the restaurant.
So, let's me thank again you and all your team, everything was perfect, including your choices of hotels.
I don't know if I will come back in the future in Peru, but I keep your contact for all my acquaintances who can be tempted to visit this country.
Best regards

It is with great pleasure that we recommend the services of Aventura Quechua. Last January 2008 we used their services to organize the land portion of a team-taught university
course titled "Eco- and Ethno-Tourism in Peru: Preserving Cultures and Environments". This trip had 16 university students and community
members. The staff of Aventura Quechua were very receptive to our academic needs and the services they provided made sure that our study-trip went off with as few difficulties
as possible. We have recommended them to both colleagues and friends of ours.

Encore Merci

Carlos - Thank you for an excellent tour of the surrounding area via bike. I was truly impressed with the mountainbiking routes and thoroughly enjoyed your guidance and friendship. I will recommend AQ to all my friends. Thanks also to Victoria for helping me find spots around town for cafe and nightlife. Peace, Thomas
Overall, a good combination of sightseeing and riding. Guides were excellent.
Victoria Harrison of Aventura Quechua did a wonderful job of managing our tour
including our fairly restrictive dietary requirements, we did the Peruvian Paso
Horses and Machu Picchu Tour. Horses were excellent, the saddle and tack were good.
Thank you very much.
What a fantastic introduction to the ´real´ side of Cusco and the Andean people. The eco tour outside of Lares, planting trees with the local people followed by a week of site seeing around Cusco and Machu Picchu was a great combination. Victoria, Mario, Louis & Domingo were extremely professional and ensured that I received everything I needed, plus more. If you are looking for a ´back to basics´chance to discover and assist the wonderful Peruvian people as well as appreciate their history in a professional manner, then go through Adventura Quechua!

Thank you so much for organizing such a great trip for us! Our two weeks in Peru were wonderful. From our pick up in Cusco to our drop off in Arequipa we were well taken care of. Even though AQ did not have an Inca Trail trip leaving on the dates that we were available, Victoria connected us up with a wonderful affiliate company and we had a fantastic time on the trail. Thank you so much for everything!!

Great trip around the Cordillera Huayhuash, with a perfect organisation, perfect cook, perfect donkey driver, ... "a la carte".
Thanks a lot to Carlos and Patricia for that.
Also thanks a lot to Wilfredo our cook and Eric our donkey driver, they were really nice & friendly, and helped us in choosing the best side trips :-)

Dear Carlos,
thank you very much for the excellent organization of our Peru trip. In Juan we had a perfect guide knowing anything about the country and the culture. Looking forward to the next trip with your organization
Best regards, Hans
My wife, five friends, and I just spent three weeks trekking and touring in the Cuzco area of Peru, including a visit to Machu Picchu. We took an eight-day trek followed by a five-day one, and Aventura Quechua provided everything starting with our arrival in Lima. The service was excellent, and the scenery was spectacular. As requested, we had the same cook (Victor) as for our previous visit in 2000, and the food was again outstanding. For the second trek, we slept at around 13,500' and some of us had difficulty with the altitude; also, we were mostly confined to our tents since it was pretty cold. But overall we had a wonderful time. Over a period of many months I worked out the trip itinerary with Carlos Ames, continually coming back to him with requested changes, and he was very helpful in accommodating our desires. (He also kindly helped to arrange our "pre-trip" to the Galapagos Islands, through a local company there.)
My family and I enjoyed very much the Inca Trail, Feliciano, charismatic, very interesting, good french speaking guide, .Excellent equipment and food. The tour in the Sacred Valley was great, we loved the Salineras in Maras, the culture and the quechua people. Thank you very much.
We just finished a 16 day jungle (Tambopata )/trek (Lares) /cultural tour (sacred valley , machu picchu, cusco environs). The staff assigned to us was great: Miguel, Vincent and Domingo and Jhon, our driver. They were knowledgeable, accommodating, patient, gracious. The trek was beautiful, The past Inca and current Quechua culture is fascinating. Every aspect of the trip was well organized. Carlos and Victoria were especially attentive.
“The
route plans, transport and support services you put in
place for our trip to Pumasillo were terrific. Making arrangements
between UK and Peru required a lot of faith on my part
- which turned out to be fully justified, and a lot of
careful planning and commitment
to quality on your part - which was demonstrated by the trip
of a lifetime. Thanks again!”
ROSS LANGFORD – UK
“We worked through the trekking company based
both in Huaraz and Cuzco. They provided complete, outstanding
service for us in arranging our Hotel Accommodations,
all Transportation, Sightseeing Tours and Trekking Services
with Guides, Cooks, Porters, Llamas, Horses and Donkeys
to carry most of our gear”.
DAVID JETTE – USA (As
printed in the “Washington Trails” Magazine
-June 2001)
“Planning a trip for a family of four with diverse
interests (cultural and recreational) and limited budget
is difficult. However, Aventura Quechua listened to our
wishes and needs and then made timely and excellent recommendations
(including transit, accommodations, and guides), assuring
a unique and active family experience in Peru. We felt
very well taken care of”.
SHERRY PROWDA – USA
"Just a note from Kathy and me to thank you for
your wonderful "southern" hospitality at Mi
Casa. Being with you was a most special part of our journey
to your country. And your caring and help were precious
at the end. The Cuzco connection with Carlos, Angelina,
and Alexandra was equally precious. Thanks for everything"
THOMAS & KATHRYN HORNBEIN – USA
“Angelina is a great contact person with creative
ideas. She is fully aware of the cultural traditions
and can plan for imaginative travel arrangements. Her
suggestions and help made it a personal and wonderful
trip to Peru”.
CROIL & RENATE ANDERSON – USA
“A successful adventure requires organization
skills, a good staff and sturdy equipment. Aventura Quechua
meets all those requirements and more. I found them to
be extremely organized, from the initial planning stage
through transports, hotels, meals and events. I found
the staff to be professional, friendly and knowledgeable.
Our tents and camping gear were of top quality, making
my trip comfortable and safe. I have taken several trips
with AQ and highly recommend them for their consistent
excellent service.
Now if they could only control the weather………”.
DR. LOIS SCHUNK - USA
“Even before my arrival in Peru, my touring experience
with AQ was superb. From the office staff to the field
support they were very well organized, efficient and
very attentive to my needs”.
DANIEL GRECIAN - USA
Et tout ceci sous l’œil toujours vigilant
de CARLOS tant sur l’organisation physique que matérielle
du voyage.
Aventura Quechua, une adresse à retenir.
