GuatemalaGuatemala is a country rich in culture, tradition, and possibilities for adventure travel. Sometimes it is hard to choose from all the activities that are possible. The following itinerary provides a mixture of cultural, archaeological, and outdoor experiences. Longer itineraries are available upon request. ItineraryDay One: GUATEMALA CITY- ANTIGUAArrival in Guatemala and transfer to Antigua. ACCOM – Hotel Day Two: ANTIGUAThis morning you have a tour of the colonial city of Antigua (about
3 ½ hours walking tour) with visits to the most important colonial
buildings and churches. Afternoon free. Day Three: ANTIGUA - PANAJACHELAt 6.00 AM you depart for the Pacaya Vulcano. It takes about 2 hours
to climb it and 1 ½ hours to return. The Pacaya is an active volcano
and the climb is easy to moderate. In the afternoon transfer to Panajachel
on Lake Atitlan. Day Four: PANAJACHEL – SAN MARCOS – SANTIAGO ATITLAN - PANAJACHELYou catch the boat to Santa Cruz and walk along the cliff to San Marcos
(about 4 hours). From San Marcos you take the boat to Santiago Atitlan,
an indigenous village on the south side of the lake. There you can see
Maximon, a Mayan saint. He is not a person, however, but a wooden figure,
which represents the spirit of the world for the Maya. In the afternoon
you return to Panajachel by boat. Day Five: PANAJACHEL – CHICHICASTANANGO – GUATEMALA CITYYou transfer from Panajachel to Chichicastenango, to visit the biggest
and most colourful Indian Market in Central America. You can also see
the Santo Thomas church, where you can observe a unique synergy of Catholic
and Maya traditional rites. A 15-minute walk outside of Chichicastanango
is a small hill with Pascual Abaj, a Maya shrine, where still today ceremonies
are conducted and animals sacrificed. It is not uncommon to observe a
ceremony there. In the afternoon transfer to Guatemala for the night. Day Six: GUATEMALA CITY- YAXHATransfer from your Hotel to the airport in Guatemala for the flight
to Flores (about 45 minutes). Transfer to Yaxha, a major archaeological
site in Peten (about 1 ½ hours). The site has some major pyramids
which can be climbed, and is not as touristy as Tikal. You have a tour
of this site before transferring to El Sombrero Lodge, an Eco-Lodge in
the Jungle. Day Seven: YAXHA – TIKAL – GUATEMALA CITYIn the morning, you transfer from Yaxha to Tikal. Tour of the archaeological
site of Tikal. At 14.00 h you return to the airport of Flores for your
flight to Guatemala. Day Eight: GUATEMALA CITY - OUTTransfer from your hotel to the airport and flight back home. If time allows, visit of the Archaeological Museum beforehand. Our Tour......INCLUDES:
