Kayaking on Lake Titicaca, and especially by the archipelago Anapia, is no risk and involves no real technical difficulty. Indeed Anapia lies in the "small" part of Lake Titicaca, dubbed "Wiñaymarkha. Being here in this "small" part of the lake protects us from the sometimes strong winds blowing on the other side of the lake, where the tourist islands of Taquile and Amantani are located. Moreover, as we are in an archipelago (one of only across the lake), we are protected from the winds by the islands, sailing mostly in the morning, and especially without ever being too far from the mainland. Finally, the continued presence of boats around us is a guarantee of security and convenience. No previous experience in sea kayaking is therefore necessary to fully enjoy these two days, especially as the boats are available to those who do not wish to paddle.

  • Day 1 Boat to the islands of Anapia on Lake Titicaca

We depart from Puno early in the morning. We make a quick stop along the way at Chuicuito, which has a great site called the "Temple of Fertility." After visiting we drive along Lake Titicaca on a road with gorgeous scenery (2 hours drive away). At Punta Hermosa, we board a boat belonging to the community Anapia. It takes more than an hour by boat from the shores of Lake Titicaca to reach the archipelago Anapia. On our arrival on the main island, we settle into our respective family houses.

Day 2 Discovery of the islands by sea kayak!

After breakfast we find the small village dock, the true umbilical cord of Anapia. We leave for 2 days with our kayaks, accompanied by traditional sailing ships providing logistics. We start out from the reeds and "patos (ducks) on calm waters, clear and blue on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.
Lake Titicaca covers about 8 562 km ², of which 4 772 km ² are in the Peruvian territory and the rest (3 790) in Bolivia. Its length is 204 km, its width of 65 km. Located between 3 809 and 3 811 meters above sea level, it has an average depth of 107 meters and a maximum depth of 284 meters. Over twenty-five rivers flow into the lake. The lake has forty-one islands, some of which are inhabited. The total length of its sides is 1 125 kilometers. In other words, we discover a small part of this huge lake!
We set our first camp by the island of Ccaño
